Someone called Pitulici some Mekici, but one thing’s for sure, they are very tasty and easy for making.
Make Mekici, ideal breakfast for your loved ones.
Excellent meal during the Easter fasts.
- 1 kg white flour/ 4 cups
- 40 grams of fresh yeast or dry
- 4 tablespoons of sugar
- 2 tea spoon of salt
- 2-3 cups Warm water
- 2 cups sunflower oil
In a large bowl we put all ingredients, flour, sugar, salt and the yeast.
We pour warm water little by little, not at once and we make a dough.
We take aside and wait to make double size.
Then from the dough we make a crust with a thickness of 1 cm.
Cover the crust with a towl.
Then, in a frying pan put about half a liter of oil to warm.
W e cut the bark with a knife on small pieces and put to fried till get nicely golden color.
Mekici you can serve it with homemade tomato sauce, spring onion,
cheese, even with powdered sugar.
